Garlic Dessert

Today I used up some of our abundant garlic to make something a bit different - garlic chocolate chip cookies! I know garlic festivals often have a garlic dessert contest, so I was curious to taste some myself.

This recipe calls for boiled garlic to be chopped up and soaked in maple syrup. The overall effect is not too bad at all. Everyone who tried them agreed the cookies were quite palatable, with "savoury" being a key descriptor. That being said, we all preferred regular good old fashioned sweet cookies without garlic, although we gave my nephew the first cookie and he never noticed a difference!

Boiling garlic a wee bit!
It was worth the experiment, but I think I'll stick to garlic in my meals and only sweet desserts.
